About GoLemon

GoLemon is a fast-growing grocery and home essentials delivery startup based in Lagos, Nigeria. We’re building systems that power the future of how households shop, and we’re looking for an experienced engineer to help bring an important backend system to life.

The role

We’re hiring an upper mid to senior-level backend engineer on a short-term contract (up to 8 weeks) to help build and improve parts of our Inventory Management System - a core service that powers product availability, stock visibility, and operations.

The project is scoped for around 5 weeks of development, followed by 3 weeks of review, testing, support, and minor improvements. We estimate a weekly input of 20–30 hours, but this is a project-based engagement, so if you're able to complete it in 2 weeks, that’s perfect. Once the project is completed and handed off, the contract is considered fulfilled.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is hands-on, outcome-driven, and excited to deliver impact quickly.

How you’ll work

We’re flexible about what time and how you work, whether full-day or part-time hours. What matters most is:

• You make consistent (daily) progress on the project
• You collaborate actively during work hours when needed (especially for daily stand-ups)
• You’re able to own the implementation and don’t require beginner-level supervision to move forward

What you’ll be doing

• Lead the implementation of scoped backend features for the Inventory Management System
• Design and build APIs and services using our existing stack
• Write clean, tested, and well-documented code
• Work closely with the team to align on requirements, unblock issues, and ensure smooth integration
• Support the system post-development with testing and improvements

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience
